WIP: Haro 4th Edition by Kjasi WIP: Haro 4th Edition by Kjasi
This is a work in progress I'm doing on a character called Haro from the Gundam series. (In Gundam SEED and SEED DESTINY, Haro is small, and comes in many colors, but your likely to see the Pink or Dark Red one the most.) I've decided to model him after the SEED edition of Haro, but I'm starting out with the original color scheme.

Honestly, I don't know why I decided to work on Haro, but I thought I'd try and do a photo-real version of him, just to see if I could. So far, I'm happy with it.

Things to work on:
- Making the Flaps animatable
- Adding the Internal components for the flap areas

Things you can't see from this still:
- His eyes, which glow red as it talks, is easily animatable, as it simply references a null for the eye's values.

Amazingly, they're all procedurals. No texture images at all.

I personally found Lightwave to be the easiest 3D program to learn and use. It's also very powerful. You can download a demo version from [link]

Dam, that looks real, nice suddle bump map, no sign of the texture line, I assume the line is at the seam that go's around the haro?

I don't know, I think that the Haro's would be made of a rubber exterior... after all they do bounce everywhere and fly into things.

Actually, the "textures" are all procedural. No images were used in the surfacing of Haro.

The First Haro was made of metal, which is the look I was going for in this edition. As for SEED Haros, when I get to that point, rubber/plastic might not be a bad idea...

Heh, I recognise that background! You've used the Wikibooks tutorial, right?

Huh? The what?

The background is the uffizi_probe.hdr file that came with my copy of Lightwave, and has been floating around the internet for quite a while.

I used it mostly to give radiosity and reflections to Haro. I use it a lot because I feel that it is the best outdoor probe I have. I use kitchen_probe.hdr for indoors.

all projects can be better, but I know not how other then making the eyes a little more transparent and giving them internal parts so to make them seem more then buttons.

ooh! That would be cool!

As for improvements, a lot of it is fixes in the mesh itself. In this version, he's got a lot more polys than I want him to have. I would also like him to have a bit more of a bevel around the areas that have been "cut".

well just do not over do it with bevel's, they can either add to or detract from if done wrong.
